I do that for any plants I think I'm going to have spare, so I don't lose my conventional labels. I use those for plants up to cold frame stage, then when planted out at the lottie, I use the large T shaped ones as they don't get bitten in two like normal ones do - we have adventurous fox cubs!

I always use pencil as it doesn't fade and you can rub it out and reuse them.

I have been using the little wooden stirrers from a well know Swedish furniture stores restaraunt!  I think they do the same ones at Macdonalds too - just collect a few each time you visit over the year.
They are a great size for the seedling stage and pricking out into small pots - but don't write on them with a rollerball pen, I did and the names washed off - most of my toms are going to be guesswork now!  Will stick to pencil in future.

Like the idea to use old cartons etc and will use this idea when planting out on the lottie
Ta!

I smile because I have no idea whats going on!!
