Here today, gone tomorrow
« on: May 03, 2004, 19:50:36 »
After I posted the first picture of bulb fields, someone thought the tulips were grown for the flowers. I explained that they were grown for the bulbs and beheaded soon after the flowers opened up. Here you can see the rows that the machine passed over and the flowers dumped at the ends of the rows.

Who knows, these bulbs may be the very same ones you'll see in your garden centers this coming fall.

It's a beautiful sight.  I wonder why they don't sell the tops as cut flowers.

So do you get multicoloured compost made from the chopped up  heads?  ;D
