Poisonous plants and chickens
« on: August 09, 2004, 22:08:25 »
I am getting three hens in two weeks time. I plan to have them partly free range in my garden and the hedgerow that makes up one of my boundary fences. Does anyone know what plants might be poisonous to hens, or where I could find out that information?

Poultry Club web site. But hens do not normally eat things which are poisonous to them except for Fat hen which they adore and gives them appalling wind, hence fat hen. Ours run round the garden and adjacent fields eating anything they choose from worms to mice to frogs to seeds to cabbage to strawberries and so on.
Gardening is the great leveller.
