Topic: Sweet mini red pepper - photo

I'm so pleased with these little peppers :)  I've got some in pots inside the greenhouse and some in the soil outside and have been picking them for the past couple of weeks.  There are lots of peppers on the plants but the plants themselves are quite small.
The seed is from Wilkinson and is half price at the moment.

They look great - been looking for a variety like that as the ones I grow are long and take an age to ripen.

They look wonderful. :) Thanks for posting a pic of the packet too, we don't have Wilkinson's in Scotland, but I thought the packet looked a Fothergills-esque shape and I think I've found them.

I couldn't believe that they would go red so soon, even outdoors.

I'm growing these too, got them from Wilkos, my first one ripened a good while ago, can't remember exactly when, but I posted the picture on here somewhere.

Very good pepper I recommend it. I wish I'd grown more of them.

The greenhouse ones are ripening more quickly, but outdoor ones are not far behind.  I'll take a photo tomorrow IF it isn't raining!

As long as you are not growing any other peppers. If you are, it depends what you are growing.

I'm growing the long sweet pepper and chillies but I bought another packet today as they were half price so it won't matter if I don't save any seeds.

Seeds, Squash? Not listed as F1 so OK?

A little like  'Sunnybrook' - Real Seeds.
To start our collection of ultra-early peppers, Ben spent ages trawling through the descriptions of the seedbanks of the USDA pepper collection.

He was looking for old varieties of peppers that seemed to be repeatedly described as early and productive. From this, we made a shortlist and so started off our pepper trials.

One thing to come out of this was 'Sunnybrook'. It is a very early bell pepper - trading size for speed but still very productive and tasty. Its about 1/2 the size of the big bells you get in the supermarkets, but with many times more flavour, and much, much earlier.

Released in 1965, Sunnybrook is consistently among the earliest of our peppers, and the plants are covered in green bell peppers by mid-summer, which rapidly turn red.

I had been looking for a good variety, and was struggling to find one that didn't need a greenhouse to ripen. So thanks for the post, and to Sholl's for the link.

Squash - your long peppers, are they outside as well? As I've looked at these (they are the only ones I buy in the summer) but read they need a greenhouse. So I'll  be interested to hear how you get on

To those of you who grow these outside...how do you overwinter them?
