I know how the mobile tracking system works (by triangulation). I'd like to know how it could work with a dead battery, that's all.

It would have to be visible from space.

It doesn't worry me that Tesco and my bank know where I live and what I eat, nor does it bother me that that my mobile is able to be traced. 

CCTV is a wonderful invention and has helped solve crimes.

I am a law abiding citizen and have nothing to lose through having Big Brother keeping an eye on me.  It doesn't bother me at all.
