i've got a lovely dianthus that's been flowering for quite a while now - is yours heavenly scented too? i love them!

Yes, the scent is beautiful!  I took some cuttings yesterday, hope they 'take'. 
What colour is yours?

What colour is yours?

not sure what the variety is called (got it from a cutting at a B+B when I was in Torquay yrs ago when I went there for the Total Solar Eclipse) but it's a soft-pink colour that's single petalled that's about 6" high that does well in pots. Do you know whether other varieties have different scents or are they're generally of the clove kind? I've got 'Doris' as well that's got a similar smell (tho' not keen on their cheap-carnation-look  ::))  I want to try out some white and bicoloured ones too.
