I seem to remember reading somewhere that Heinz had taken it over and had changed the recipe, but don't know when that was.

It seems that Heinz took it over in 2005, and reduced the salt content in Sept 2011.

It has changed, I have been saying that for  a while, it has more ginger in it for one thing. we have stopped buying it and have switched to one called A1, It seemed to change about the same time that they brought out several other HP sauce flavours here, and none are like the original. I presumed it to was to cater to the North American market. It seems they have got it over to you now.

Agree with Kev, Daddies is fab, but I also use Sainsburys very cheap own brand and like that too!
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Is it that brown sauce you northerners pour all over your tasteless food.

I have a bottle of HP at the moment but not noticed a taste difference.  My favourite brown sauce is Chop

No Ace, it is the flavouring that gives our beer it's full bodied taste
