About 1977 Britain was flooded with a potato called Brittany Prince. They were lovely, sweet and so easy to scrape. Haven’t seen them since though and haven’t seen them in catalogues. Does anyone know if they have another name and can you buy seed. Think they must have been first earlies as they were large and were in the shops just after the Jersey Mids finished. (those were the days when you bought your spuds loose and you could give them a scrape with your nail to check freshness)

I checked the European Variety and Potato Pedigree Database, nothing shows for a variety Brittany Prince.
I wonder if it was the name of the producers rather than the variety of potato?

Also came across this pictyre
Brittany Prince fresher, tastier new potatoes

Thanks Jayb for knowing where to look. It seemed to be only that one year that Britain, or was it just Birmingham, that was flooded with them - constantly advertised on local radio etc. Lovely spud though.
