i know im a little behind but had my first peas today with plenty more to come

They look goodplus the sweet corn at the front. I think I'm about the same progress as yourself. But I did do a late sowing as well just in case which are in flower.

Are they shelling or mangetout?  If shelling you are early!  They look scrummy and lots of them too.  Happy days! - peas are so yummy, especially fresh in the garden.

shelling cant tell you what variety a fellow plot holder gave them to me had about a pound in weight today a carrier bag full of pods

from first peas to last peas took them allup this morning  all frozen bagged and finished

i really dont know a chap in the darts team knows a farmer and he gives him a gallon every year for the allotment the only trouble is you only get 4/6 peas in a pod and they go over really quick one day there nice and sweet the next like bullets so thats why i take the lot and not stagger the picking

Some of the early types are like that, plus might be bred for field harvesting when I guess having a crop ready altogether is the target. Looks a good cropper though and bam job done

Yep!  There is definitely merit in having clear ground at this time for another crop.

Seems like my tall peas have only just started and will hopefully go on for another 6-8 weeks

yes indeed we have a lot of pea moth here so an early crop doesn't get affected i could cover them up but have enough covers on my plot with brassicas  carrots etc  so its a early crop for me even though they have there draw backs
