I've read through the various threads already on the site via the search engine, but am still not sure what I can do with the ash. :-[
We had a large bonfire over the weekend, burning huge quantities of leaves, pine needles, rotten veg, hedge clippings, old tomato plants, potato haulms etc etc.... (compost bin overflowing already - note to self - buy a new one! ::))
When the ash is cold, can I dig it into the parts of the plot where I plan on planting garlic, onions, winter salad and broad beans? Can I put it into the soon-to-be strawberry bed? Or should I just scatter it everywhere and hope for the best? Some areas are going to be left empty over the winter - or planted with green manure, when I get round to buying the seeds, if it's not too late.
Sorry for the idiot questions!
