Does anybody out there know of a good place to buy POL chickens around the Melton Mowbray area, and what would be a good breed to start with? ;)

Depends what you want - hybids for eggs - try 1stop chicken shop at Belton near Grantham. Melton is good but prices now will be high and the risk of having stock with myco is HIGH and myco will affect egg laying. You need to know what you are looking for at Melton.
