Maybe we should have a competition to see who can spend the least on their allotment over a year! I HATE spending money on anything except seed & compost!

You can get a reel of hosepipe from poundland. I can't remember how long it is though.

We got some blue piping offcuts free from a builder who had just finished building some new houses near us.  About 3/4inch thick

Free stuff is good stuff!!

I tried hose piping last year with canes inserted at the ends and shoved in the ground but found the middles drooped when the sun made them hot ........ and they stayed that way.  What do you do to keep them "hoop" shaped?

We've seen a goodly number of plots with that cheapo curtain rail holding up cloches. 50p a meter from CarpetRight.
Just bend each end into the ground and put the poly on top.

MDPE (Water Pipe) is very expensive.  I have asked my bro who is a big wig in one of the water companies and he is going to ask a supplier if they have any right-off rolls that they can let me have.  I would suggest you ask around building sites for any off cuts and see what you can do with that.

That is expensive if you can't afford it.  I have calculated I need 100m.  I can't afford it.  Therefore it is expensive for me, just like it is for the originator of this thread.  I need a Coleman 442 stove.  I can get them for about £35 on e-bay - proper price about £70.  I can't afford it and am going without.  If you can afford it, it's cheap.  Some of us can't!  I also have holes in the shoes I am currently wearing.
