Red Hmong and Australian pumkins
«

This forum has many super kind and generous folk. I’ve been lucky enough to have been sent many lovely seeds since I’ve been a member. I recently received some Red Hmong cucumber seeds in a swap, I’m hoping to grow some for seed for the Seed Circle. But there are too many for one person to use so I wondered if any existing forum members would like to try them as well this season.
Have a look at this link,.
http://www.thegardenerseden.com/?s=red+hmong+cucumber
I think this is the actual fruit the seeds were saved from. John knows I planned on sharing the seeds here, so Thank You to him and his generosity.
If you would like some, I’d very much appreciate a Self Addressed and Stamped Envelope so I can just pop them in and post them on.
Also last year I received some pumpkin seeds from an Australia member. Queensland Blue (which I grew for the Seed Circle in 2010) and Jarrahdale. Both grew well and produced 2+ good fruit per vine, (not a good summer here in my part of Wales, far too wet and cold.) I have some of the original seed spare if anyone would like a couple of seeds to try.
Again a Self Addressed and Stamped Envelope with your user name and what you have requested will be just the job.

Hi Jayb, Would love to give the cucumber variety a go. I have sent you a pm along with a list of seed to see if you are interested in any.
I also have some tuffy sweet (acorn squash) and uchiki kuri spare if you're interested?

I would love a couple of Queensland Blue if you have any to spare. I have shark fin (don't know if I sent you some last year), Hopi grey, amish paste and a black kuri (I think). Let me know if you want any.

I would love to!!!
Will send you an SAE if that's ok... ;D
I was allowed to sift through old HSL squashes, peas and beans a couple of weeks ago and have snaffled a few - will be germinating them in April and saving from as many as possible.....and will share through the circle.

That cucumber looks great. It's good to see a picture you can trust, sometimes I think they photoshop them to make them redder, the colours look a bit funny.
I won't take any seeds though, I know my limits ;D

Yes it's lovely having an actual picture and John says he has found this variety of cucumber "doesn't have the, er, side effects, sometimes associated with cucumbers. Not for me at least. Although, in the view of my wife, I have a cast iron stomach so I don't know if that is a recommendation. Very crisp skin, much like the cucumbers grown over here as 'pickles'. Which is why I like them, I find regular cucumbers lack 'crunch'. Flavour is excellent, IMHO."
I'm really lookng forward to trying them (I hope) I think they should grow fine, I've found Sikkim and Uzbekski do well in a polytunnel and hope these enjoy the same condtions.
I just did a germination test over the weekend 2 days 100% ;D

Out this year is the Marketmore cucumber (what a bore) and in are Red Hmong (thanks Jayb) and Crystal Lemon.
Both have excellent reviews although I couldnt find as much information on the web for Red Hmong. Here is the best link that I found fo info:

Sorry missed this.
I sowed my seeds a couple of days ago in pots in a heated propagator. No sign of them today (although Tamra and Suyo Long are up) I don't imagine they will be far behind as when I did a germination test it was excellent. If you need more seed send a pm Dandytown. How are you germinating yours?
