vegging out

Hi,
Has anyone got any tips on harvesting these.
Is it wise to cut the top male flower?
I have inch long silks on some corns, are they ready to cut and wheres the best place to cut as they are very tightly set next to and behind the leaf?
Many thanks.

I've only grown them once because they take up a lot of space for such a small crop.
I didn't bother to cut off the male flower at all, I got around 4 to 6 baby corns per plant and I removed them the same way I do normal size cobs, just give them a sharp downward tug while holding the stem steady with your other hand. The taste was good but as I said, it's a lot of effort for not much reward.
I'm hoping that one day I'll be able to get hold of some "Chires Baby Sweetcorn", this is a variety grown in the USA and it's supposed to produce up to 50 cobs per plant, can't find a supplier over here though  :'(
