Some pickings.

Dwarf French beans have been great - thank goodness as the runners completely failed and the climbing french beans were all munched by Mr Vole!

Spring sown bright yellow and swiss chard.  These are big plants now, but I have plenty of young seedlings growing to provide even more leaves throughout the winter.

Los of bare ground at the moment.  There are seedlings there though and young kale and sprouting brocolli.

I am currently edging both of my plots, not to raise the beds really, but to outline them as the paths tend to grow into the plot, and in places, the paths are very poor and it is hard to see the edges...I wanted some definition!

Cardoons, worthy of the garden border I think!

And my trug.  You can't see the beans as the windfall apples are plonked on top!  A couple of carrots and lots of toms.  Tomatos are ripening very fast now and today I picked a handful from each of; moneymaker (I know Stephan, but it was a freebie), Golden Queen, Golden cherry, Orange berry, tigerella, guernsey Island, Cosfi, Palla di Forcono (can't remember exact spelling of that one!) and Roma.  Also picked a couple of bolting lettuce, lemon cucumber and a handful of radish.

Great to see all your pickings EJ.  You have had a good season so far.  I love the trug picture best of all, just the radience of all the produce with the light shining on them,  - I can almost smell the fruity smell of the tomatoes and apples and that lovely earthy smell of carrots, gorgeous!  We are starting to have gaps in our plot  now too, as various crops are dug up.

It was a fabulous day here and obviously similar weather where you are.  Each day like this seems a big bonus as there does seem to be a feeling of change on the way.  Well into the 70's here and 100 in our greenhouse, I hope it lasts a bit longer.  :) busy_lizzie

;D A lovely crop you have there too! how odd your runner beans failed ??? All of us here who have sown them have had a bumper crop, what have you done different this year? Maybe your drought? ???

daisymay

great crop there, an inspiration to all us new starters!  :)

Drought and vole!  Seen the little critter!!  Set up home smack bang in the middle of my runner bean patch.  Chewed the plants clean through the stems, or dug up the young plants and ate the seed bean!  I do have some runners over on plot number 2 growing as they please through my tomato plants, so we are getting some, but won't have enough to preserve or freeze.

French beans have been great and I have dwarf yellow wax, pongo, and dwarf purple queen.  Also had some borlotti, but the vole saw to them!  Am moving the bean patch next year and will be growing flowers in their place.

The scarecrow seems to do the trick....a bit....my kale and savoy cabbages are uncovered and the pigeons aren't interested.  Going to make a scarecat for next year to keep the voles and mice away!

Ta for the inspirational pics.  I think I'd like a scarecrow.  I think I'm going to make it either like Elvis or like my lotty mate as his clothes are dead mad  ;D
Agree about yellow dwarf waxy beans - they are absolutely delish.  I didn't grow any but my mate did and I can't get enough of em  :)
