Garden seat

Last year I aquired from youngest daughter a wooden garden seat...it was in pretty poor condition and I did fix it up for the year.
I went to move it into a greenhouse for the winter and it literally fell to bits....there was so much rot it had no other place to go but on the November 5th bonfire

I really miss the darned thing and now have to replace it. Should I make one out of pallets or simply fix some slats of wood across some brick piers?

If I buy anything decent I am sure it will go walkabout one dark night so I reckon something that looks home made but sturdy would do me fine

Pallets have done me grand. I made one five years ago and it is still going strong, despite me abusing it in some pretty awful ways, but I built it to be sturdy and it has repaid my efforts. It is in need of another coat of preservative now, but that is all.

That is a great garden seat Derek.  It is amazing how versatile pallets are - they are definitely the allotment holders friend.  What would we do without them?

We used to have a garden bench at our allotment but it disappeared one night too; some kids had lifted it over our fence to take to their drinking den, but we never managed to get it back.  We have two plastic chairs now which we lock in our shed, but I wouldn't mind a permanent structure like yours.  It is a good simple design, so might copy it.  :) busy_lizzie

I'm still kicking myself that when I removed an apple tree and replaced it with a lawn, I didn't cut the stump at a height to build a seat or table top onto it.

why not make her a willow & chamomile seat ..........it'll be too heavy for any one to pinch

or even more permanent put in a growing willow seat then it will literally remain rooted in place and last just about forever!
