A big public thank you  :) to A4a members Melbourne12 who brought their famous 'pre-tested' E-buygumbay greenhouse over today in kit form AND did most of the work cheerfully putting the frame together today, in the teeth of blizzards and gales! The greenhouse is still a work in progress with help to come next weekend from more members of the Melbourne12 family  :o. But I couldn't wait to post the first picture, it's too exciting. My son and I will get the glass in over the next few weeks (2,000 screws...), then, tadaaaa!
Now the frame is up, I am imagining hours to come dawdling cosily out of the wind ... and coddling me sprouts inside before their Big Adventure outside on the plot.
I am bursting with pride and gratitude already. Can you tell?  ;D ;D ;D

Hi Supersprout,

That looks great, it's a beauty all right, and very strong looking too, you should get many years happy pottering in there. Glad to see E-buygumbay working well for all members, and Dan too, hope it helps to make the site financially secure.
Have fun, and keep popping in to E-buygumbay to get the stuff to fit it out!

The amazing Melbourne12 family arrived en masse last Saturday for a major glazing spree, leaving only a few panes of glass to fit before the greenhouse is ready. Much better weather, just as well as it was tough going at times - you really do need an expert (like John :)) and lots of patient and confident hands. Here they are getting us to the next stage :D

Even more impressed, and even more jealous ! :D

Last week my son got the whole roof glazed whilst I was away, and has put sealant (transparent, weatherproof) on all the glass at the sides. Only 20 panes and a door to fit, ooooh (trembles with excoitment) ;D
Given the way the weather's working out, no rush eh :-\

Melbourne12

I'm really pleased that it's nearly finished.  I'd hoped that we could have got a bit further with the roof glazing on the second day, but the hinged windows took a bit more fiddling with than we'd expected.

The greenhouse has been commissioned! We had a near-disaster with the winds three weeks ago when it waddled off its foundations and went saggy :o  :'(. Saved by prompt action from lottie neighbours :D :-*. Now it's screwed down into the foundations, roof and three sides completely glazed, and 'sandbagged' with spent hops. The next jobs will be to complete the door side, cover the floor with black woven weed barrier, and think what to do with all that space. For now, 30 tomato seedlings are waving from makeshift trestles in their new-found warmth and light. Result! ;D ;D ;D

Good for you SSprout! Hope you have many happy hours pottering!
