Blue sky !!!! Hoping to cut the lawn (at last) have been waiting to use new mower Lorna (junr) and I bought between us  few days ago.. It seems to change so quickly from sunshine to rain so keeping fingers crossed. Waiting for Lorna to come round to help me get the mower out of the box and put it together ;D

Beautiful day here, but no Lottie work today as it is our Grand Egg Painting Competition.  This afternoon everyone will decend  and will be painting and gluing until 4.30 when the Judges will arrive. Then it is afternoon tea with hot cross buns.  Have done a quiz for when the Judges do their thing, so after all that I will just collapse in a heap.  Hope tomorrow is the same weather and then I can really get cracking at our plot.  :) busy_lizzie

I was supposed to be going to the easter event at Whitehouse Farm (Morpeth) but have a bit of a chest infection and heavy cold so am staying away from neices & nephews. Haven't got the energy for it :(

"Well, tomorrow is another day..."  ;)

I hope there was more than just a t-shirt! :o

I was sulking this morning due to spots of rain, then decided to stuff it and go dig anyway.  Glad I did.  Sun came out and it was *lovely*.

Got the pea trench sorted and the rest of the permanent bean poles up.  Began using the eyesore heap (to quote my OH) of big pop bottles as dug-in drain away watering aids. Got chatting to the neighbour. 3 hours later I'm home and will be ready for round two tomorrow (fingers X'd the weather holds!)

Slight drizzle, but when the better half tells you he will willingly spend some quality time with the kids for a couple of hours so you can get to the plot, you gotta go!  Was busy on site, not really suprising.  My peas have all germinated, so my new vole free location and use of very close weave plastic netting on the ground seemed to do the trick.  Radish are up also.  Planted 20 caulis, 20 purple sprouting, 20 lettuce 'Lakeland' and 20 beetroots which are a test as I have never module sown those.  Pulled a carrier bag full of rhubarb, which is currently bubbling away for later, along with the last of the celeriac, and leeks, and a bucket full of brocolli!  The daffs that I didn't pick for indoors are still looking great.  Came home to bedlam, but they were all happy, the sun was shining, and after lunch we took the kids out fora bike ride.  Now I am winding down and thinking about cooking their dinner - pork chops and brocolli me thinks!

Happy Easter everyone!

This morning it did not look very promising...very dull and the ground was wet and sticky. Therefore, I went to the garden centre to get a few bit and pieces and went back to the allotment after lunch.  It had dried out great in those few hours and the sun was shining. I planted the last of my potatoes to give a total of 6 varieties I am trying this year. Then I sowed turnips and covered these with viromesh to keep the flee-beetle at bay. I finished by planting out some sweet-peas.
I am back home now having a beer while cooking dinner.

after an awful night where both of us couldn't get comfy and kept disturbing each other but neither of us could move out as all the glazing for the g/h is on the spare bed ! as neither of us are feeling that great anyway the day didn't bode well.  the morning started off quite horrid, blowing winds and rain but having run out of threads to read i rolled my sleeves up, put on the waterproof jacket and went out and planted in the bath the garlic from the cold cupboard, the garlic from the fridge, a row of early nantes and a circle around the ege of all that with sets of onions.  stuck up the fleece/polytunnel and then saw a shadow lurking in the house.

still changeable weather, but managed to get the two sides and fronts of the greenhouse glazed before he banged his head twice on the door runner which was a sign to pack up for the day.  sandbags and heavy pots positioned to try and stop the thing flying away. came in for a sit down and a beer and it's lovely out there now, so i felt guilty about wasting the sun so went and had a dig to prepare the site for the greenhouse, tidied up the pansies, had a wee prune of the hardy fuschia and watered my pots WITH MY HOSE (that's now fitted to the cold tap, at last) !!!!

am thoroughly kn@ckered now, but hoping for more of the same tomorrow.

you feel good when you get days like that. i hope your sitting where you can see all your good work. i went up the plot intending just to water the seedlings ,(my babies) and ended up laying 5 slabs to make a wee path to the cold frame. managed to give away some broccoli, cauli, tomato and cucumber seedlings to  some new people to get them started (remembering how everyone was good to me last year). pity I'm night shift tonight as i  feel full of energy and ready to get wired in.

Rain was forecast,  so I thought I would do a little interior decorating after stripping off some wallpaper, the sun broke through, so I missed a wonderful day in the garden.

Went to the plot at seven & it was rain on & off but decided to stick it out. The sun came out & i got back 18.40 after a lovely day am now going to the pub to talk allotments if any one will listen ;D

MrsKP

yip weedbusta, good but shattered.  this bug that's kicking round town takes it out of you.  hope you've managed to avoid it/got over it.  it's stories like yours make me a bit sad there's only me on my plot but the upside is, that it's only oot the back  ;D

vony, i bought this place last year because it didn't need any decorating.  i'm hoping to swap the lounge window for patio doors in the not too distant future, and there will be explicit instructions NOT to wreck the wallpaper or the laminate floor.  I can live in hope eh ?   ;D

Tel, we're always here if no-one else will  ;D

Well didn't manage to get back to the allotment so worked in my garden planting a few bulbs and a little weeding. Couldn't be bothered at first to sow any seeds but have got a few done after a couple of glasses of wine, purple sprouting brocolli, cabbage primo ll, brussels, mushrooms and re potted my red cabbages, greyhound cabbages and chilli plants.

Lets hope tomorrow the sun shines so I can get my potatoes all in. We popped down to the allotment to have a look to see if my carrotts and parnips have come through this morning and the weeds are growing well got alot to do.

Have just come in from garden. Beautiful day, greenhouse was reading 78f. Spent some time in there checking all the plants and seedlings. Mowed the lawn, did the edging, dug the borders. Cut the greenery off a big conifer ready for friend to bring his chain saw. Did the strimming both sides of wrought iron fence. Cleaned all the tools and decided to call it a day.  Was nice to spend so much time out there without sciatica setting in. I always take things steady A... age and B try to keep the sciatica at bay.
Didn't bother to cook dinner (only me to please) so have had snacks, just going to have some sausage rolls that I popped in the oven then it is sit down time!!
Hope the sun shines tomorrow for all of us.
Lorna.
