Soakaway

There is probably an obvious answer to this... How deep do i have to go down for an efficient one? Apologies to those with lack of water problems, but I have an area which is not going to be used unless I make one! Have saved loads of stones from the rest of the plot ready to fill in at the bottom, but not sure how deep it should be.

All advice welcome!

Hi Katy

In answer to your question a soakaway should be at least 4 - 5 ft across and 4ft deep to work properly filled with stones, builders rubble then gravel then turf.
