Thought I'd update you on the progress of the allotment (or not )
Sister and I have just about got the site cleared, today was cleaning out the old shed, muck or what  ::)
It will have to be painted as its so bad, so on the look out for some cheap paint in something other than pink or flurecant green :D
Mick has brought my £10 shed ( it was seven by five so I was dead chuffed) to my house and spread it round so that it can be creosoted. Trouble is the wind keeps catching them and they have been close to decapitating the dog a few times.  ???
Sister bought some of that posh creosote for £3 for a 10 litre pot, couldn't believe it so got two as they don't eat 'owt. So we are now set to start painting with our 6 inch £1 brush tell you what so pleased with those buys ;D
Do you remember saying to ask for help even in the down times, well here goes.
When Mick came the other day he seemed to be really self conscious, all comes to all hes off on his holidays today and has so much work on he doesn't know when he'll be able to do the allotment. So I'm hanging on a thread not knowing when anything will be done. You see Mick's got all the slabs for free so if I get some one else theres all that expense, hes already got the wires to grow the fruit up as well.
I've been trying to look ahead to next year by planning some of the things I want to grow but sometimes that can make me feel worse because I cant get my hands on anything, you know what I mean, so any ideas will gratefully received.  :D
Thanks for listening to my moans  :o

Great news about the shed Choc! Also the paint/creosote etc.
It must be very frustrating to have all those plans and to have no way of carrying them out. Was wondering if it would be possible to find any more help? Maybe an ad in local shops asking for interested gardeners to join "Team Choc"...just a thought!

Once it's all done keep an eye out for the swap part of this forum, people are very generous, I have had some great seeds from people and it helps save pennies for big projects!

Hope you have still got your chin up!!

;)

Chocolate. Too far away from you to help (workwise) Do ring either your local council, help the aged or national health depts. Remember the posts I made about the group of people who came and did gardening work for me. They did jobs I couldn't manage.DON'T give up, keep asking around. Good luck.

Chocolate, You are moving forward having a shed, but I can understand your frustration when you want to get cracking with things now.  I think it is worth ringing around as Katy and Lorna suggest, just to see if you can get some volunteers to help you until you can get underway. First of all try the local authority and  also look in yellow pages for bodies that you could approach. It is worth trying as organisations get a lot of grants to help people with special needs.  I know Community Services have youths they put to work and this would be an ideal project for them. Worh a try!!  ??? All the best, and try not to get downhearted, you will get there.  :) busy_lizzie

Hi thanks so much yes I am getting a bit down with it. I've joined that LETS scheme were I do things that I can do, then folk do jobs for me like my 'lottie. Its not up and running in Leicester just yet but it will be good when it is. I've not heard about the social services helping me,its worth a ring.
The thing is that Mick's got about 150 second hand slabs to do paths and a car standing for me, I couldn't afford to pay for them if I went with someone else. UUUggggghhhhhh!!!!!!   I get so frustrated !!!  I need a man girls even if its just to do the jobs after that I could send him off home   :o
Can't be doing with one hanging round and getting under my feet, had too much of that in the past. I must have pr..t written on my forehead as thats all I get when it comes to the men stakes.   :D

I missed that one Lorna what was it called so that I can have a look?

Yes, 'sposse it wont be long really until I get it finished really. Everbody must get down eh. I think we all need a boost from each other now and again. I'm so glad you lot are all here you know  ;)

join the club Chocolate !  I've got an 6'5" 18st man who has watched me while i've moved about 4 tonne of soil, compost, gravel, clay, cement, sand and tree root.  sometimes i wonder what he's actually there for!

mind you when i look out of my office window (newly washed today by me) onto the plot and think what I'VE achieved since i started this project in about February, I smile to myself and think I've done that !

I really do need someone to lift half my patio and re-hardcore and re-lay it though (leyllandi damage and it's sunk).  I know I'll be waiting more than a month of sundays if i expect the OH to do it !

Moan away love, we all need to do it sometimes.

Just thought I'd update you on my week with Calamity Jane (well thats what it feels like)
Really pleased with what we've done this week, although its been hot sister has been coming down in the cool of the evening to do the painting of the shed bit by bit,we have just about done the outside. Now to wait for some help to turn them round to paint the inside.
All in the garden is Rosie until the outbreak of the storm this afternoon, we had like a mini hurricane just before the rain. So what you may say? Well the wind lifted all the pieces of shed and through them to the ground, this happened in a matter of seconds, there was I not knowing if I could catch one as it went past or to leave it in case one decapitated me and the nutty dog ::)
Decided to let nature take its course and deal with aftermath later, well we needed the rain but did we really need a hurricane as well ;D
I felt like riding my bike into the sky with my little dog in the basket and going off to meet up with all the mad people in The Wizard of OZ. ;D
Mad or what and I promise I haven't been on anything.  Bye  Bye  Just going to try the red shoes on ;)

 ;D ;D ;D
We had a hurricane before the rain too, set all the open windows in my garret banging, so I closed them just in time for the storm.
I can't believe you're still working so hard in the heat choccy, I just manage to do the greenhouse watering and doddle around tying up plants with string before it gets too hot. You're a trojan! ;) 8)

I've not been doing anything much in the day time, as theres nothing on the 'lottie but burnt weeds  :D
So all I've got to keep me occupied is the shed, I do half way up and sister does to halfway down, if you see what I mean ::)
We wait until the evening when its cooled down a bit.
Sister has ordered some fruit bushes for the end of the year so I hope Mick's got his finger out by then ???
That hurricane must have gone all over then and like you say my windows were banging and crashing it was really weird wasn't it :(
