Could barely see across the room at 5am. Couldn't see to mix fertiliser until 5.45am - so stayed in bed!!

But the 5mm of rain was very welcome.   The first since 5 July.

Yes, I am still obstinately wearing shorts whenever possible, but I can tell the difference !!!
The impossible is just a journey away ...

Tiddling down here in Essex.  Joy though!  Already, after 3 days of rain, my lawn is looking greener, my poorly astilbes have perked up, and I can only imagine what good all of this is doing on the allotment!

I jst wish we could have real, ground-soaking rain, even a flash flood. These bits are OK, but the ground was still very dry under the surface yesterday.

Plum

wish we could have some rain. Nothing here for ages. Butts empty. Promised rain yesterday. Nothing

Mrs Ava

Well this was the ground Saturday morning after we had had quite a lot of rain over night.  Hopefully you can see the dark ground which was undug, then the light dry ground where I had dug my valour spuds.  Even after all that rain, the soil was only damp to a couple of centrimetres.

Also, this is a dustbin waterbut which has been all but dry for some weeks.  That rain did manage to fill it a third of the way - but this was empty again by the time I left as I had some leeks to plant and I needed to water them in.

Has been raining steadily, but brightened now.  I will pop to the plot tomorrow and see how things are looking.

mc55

rained all through Saturday night and most of Sunday daytime ... much colder here.

I turned the tap on my waterbutt this afternoon, and behold, water flowed out! First time since I rebuilt the base of it several weeks ago. The stream is still flowing, so the water table should be filling up nicely, and parts of the garden actually looked slightly damp.
