Margaret

Hi all.Just in case there is anyone left who is still interested in the long and boring saga of hubbys job search,he has finally been offered a job back in his old trade, the motor industry, doing a nice varied number of things which he should enjoy. It has been a real trial of perseverance and an eye opener into how some employers treat people desperate to work, especially the older generation. In some cases, there are no words to describe just how bad they have been.

But he now seems to have found his niche again with a decent company who will hopefully be treating him with the respect and appreciation he deserves ;long overdue in my opinion ( alright so I am a bit biased!!)

Thanks to all who have given me support through this time,it has been much appreciated. To anyone in a similar position i would say............just keep trying, someone out there does want you,it is just a case of the right time and job will come eventually!

Hello Margaret, being rather new I haven't heard your story but I have certainly got the picture from your recent post, am delighted for you and 0h, many congratulations from me as well.

I join the others with congrat's, Margaret and can also sympathise. The 'older' folk are the ones with the know-how and expertise and dare I say it...manners when dealing with others! Age'ism does exist, sad to say. If we don't take advantage of those with years of know-how and knowledge, what for the future?

Gardengirl

Hi Margaret, I am so pleased for you and Bob.  Please give him my very best wishes.  Without repetition, I would like to echo what Ken has said. It's been a long hard struggle but paid off in the end.
Happy gardening all...........Pat

New to the site as well, Margaret, but think I know what you went thru - similar circumstances with us a few years ago. Seemed never ending at the time and just so glad to hear of the way things are going now.

Equality isn't everyone being the same, equality is recognising that being different is normal.
