I've got a large yellow tree peony that I need to move. Should I do it now or wait till it dies back? Also do you think it will do ok in a north east facing corner?

Best wait until it dies back, I moved one last year and I must have left a bit of root in the ground as it came up again this year. I split the original plant into 10 different plants and they all survived but only one flowered this year.

Cool, thanks for that.

I'm not so apprehensive about moving it now if it can grow back from a bit of root and be split up like that! I was a bit worried about killing it. It's a lovely plant but I'm trying to make room for some veggies and it's just in the wrong place. Are the low growing deep red peonies easy to move?

Yes, though they may not flower, or not flower well, the following year. Leave them till they die back.
