Lemon Cucumber.

Planning ahead on paper, space being somewhat limited with only 5 rods, I need to know if lemon cucs are grown outdoors or in the greenhouse. Info on the packet is minimal and doesn't specify. I've not grown any cucs before, so any tips will be gratefully received.

Is tht like Crystal apple/lemon ? It will grow outside but will need protection from winds, I grow mine in a cold greenhouse and they do really well. Picked the last two last weekend.

I grew Crystal Apple in my greenhouse and outside climbing up a willow frame; I had good crops in both areas, the outdoor ones lasted longer than the indoor, in fact I've only just cleared them this week, and still found some fruits!

I got my seeds for lemon cucumbers but have no info on the packets but I'm shaw you can grow them outside, these are the round cucumbers we are talking about?

It doesn't specify which variety, but am I right to assume  I can grow any type up a frame? This would certainly free up space.
I understand they are round, but again no pic on packet. Got them from 'The Herbary'

Yes, they are round - I only cleared the last of mine yesterday!  I grew mine on the allotment and they turned into monsters roaming far and wide!  I did keep the cosy early on inside my coldframe, but they quickly burst out of that and roamed up a frame (an old clothes horse  ;D).  Because the fruits are small, the support was perfect.  I will be growing them again next year for certain.

The clothes horse........brill idea EJ. I'm going to end up with nothing left in this house, what with carpet over me compost , woollies in me bean trench, etc.  ;D ;D
No heat in my greenhouse Saddad, I think I'll do some and some. Not many seeds in the packet so I'll have to be vigilant.

I should have posted this last week but forgot!  I ordered my seeds last Thursday 8.00am and they arrived Friday 10.00am, so I was very impressed. 

I ordered three packets of seeds from three different companies, amd they all came together so it saved three separate small orders.

Hi alll,

Like EJ, my cucumbers outgrew the cold frame and I struggled to provide support for them. I`m now preparing a re-inforced "bean fence" at least six feet tall and with trench in place for manure etc. After protection from slugs in the early stages I think they will thrive in this setting.

Already dug 2 bean trenches Columbus, 'spose 1 more wont make much difference ;D. They are going to have to go 'up' 'cos I'm going to run out of room!
