I got a family of 1 mother & 14 chicks 4 months old now. One is a cockeral as I hear him each morning as I open the gates to let them out. Still finding his voice but its there. Not sure which one it is yet though. I am thinking about just fattening it for the pot as I aint so keen on him fertilizing his sisters as I am not sure how it would affect the flock and offspring.

If this is correct, At what age should I get a cockeral from elsewhere to fit in :-\ & how would it interact with the others. Would I have to keep it isolated for a while?

You should be able to tell which is the boy a mile off - big red comb and red wattles esp when comparing them to the girls!

Nothing wrong with putting him in the pot - enjoy!

Why would you need another cockeral though? Are you seriously wanting to breed all your chickens... or are they just egg layers?

I wouldnt bother getting a cockeral as you cant sell fertilized eggs  (if you are selling them that is)...   You only need a cockeral if you are breeding and its another greedy bird to feed LOL

What breed of chickens do you have?

Well your co*k should be strutting around now chest out and head up where as pullets seem to keep their heads down more.
I read on one site if you get a straw hat and throw it accross the flock the co*ks stretch their necks to see it and pullets duck down. Yes we tried it here but we were in fits of laughter not very scientific as all ha ha.
Supermarkets dont sell fert eggs and some wont buy from sellers if they have co*krells running with hens.
But I sell mine ( over the garden gate) and no problem I am not going to sell someone a egg with half grown chick inside. I believe the chinese class them as special eggs and will pay more for them. I remember as a child going with mum to sell her eggs ( had co*krells at home) the buyer would send the eggs through these machines to check nothing was inside ( a chick) before putting the little lion stamp on them oh the good old days. ha ha.
