lots better this week, I really enjoyed it, maybe last one was just a hiccup, could still do without the music but overall, I'll keep watching  ;D ;D

Agree with you manics, altho' i thought the music side of things was much improved this week! It did make me laugh tho' when she was moaning about her lack of carrots and the song 'you can't always get what you want' by the stones was playing in the background  ;D ! x

Missed last week's but read all the comments here.  Just watched tonight's & thought it achieved what it presumably set out to do - to interest people in growing veg & showing how it can be done even if you don't have a great big plot or lots of experience.  I loved her enthusiasm & also the fact that they showed her failures.

Made me long for the sunshine though.  :) :)

Can't believe it missed two on the spin are there any repeats or has any one recorded them? :( :( :( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Mrs Ava

Oh it made me smile to see her roots failing - does the old gardeners heart good to see the experts sometimes thingy it up to.  ;D  I will my veggies came out of the ground as clean as hers.  I liked the pretty Swiss girlie.  So excited about her salads.  I do love that smuggness that us gardeners get when we pull our lovely fresh crops.

I see the robin is going for a BAFTA.

I caught it this week and was moderately impressed. I thought the girl on the balcony was swedish? Brought to mind Gab... our own cultivated swede!
;D

Mrs Ava

Swiss, swedish, they are all good lookers!  ;D

rosebud

S*d it i missed it , saw last weeks and Caroles enthusiasum is so catching but because we are moving we cannot do anything about the veg as yet.

Who is this show aimed at? I felt a little embarrassed with all the squealing "ooh look I've grown a beetroot" wow. 1/2 an hour of nice pictures but not much substance :'(

There is no doubting that allotments and growing your own is taking off in a big way right now but do you think there may be a down side to this? Seed prices are certainly rising......... any other thoughts?

Mrs Ava

Well MT, what about peeps taking on allotments because it is in vogue and then giving up at the first hurdle, leaving peeps who are dead keen on a long waiting list.  NO OFFENCE PEOPLE! :-X

Merry Tiller

yeh I know what you mean, just thinking of emigrating to Sweden at the moment ;D

If I wasn't married then I'd think the same.  ;)

Otherwise the program was better than last week. Nice to see her failings as well as good stuff. 2 comments though - firstly - as I have never grown carrots, do they usually come out of the ground that clean? Secondly - is it just me or does anyone else find her laugh and snigger's so blo*dy annoying. Straight forward narrating would do me.

Yes I know what you mean EJ, I just wish they'd make a TV show aimed at me, I'm very selfish I suppose. KC is ok in my book but she just seemed to show a lot of "ooh look what I've grown" stuff, rather than "this is the way to grow stuff". I know I really shouldn't need people reinforcing my ideas at my age but it always makes me feel better

Check the BBC2 schedule for (I think) Wednesday Kev, they are repeating all but Episode 1 :)

MrsKP

Hubbie is "taping" them all for me.  Will have the whole series on DVD to rewatch once CBB is finished.  :P

Must admit to being thoroughly peed off with last night's episode though.

Yes, I know what a beetroot looks like, what I want to know is what was eating my leaves last year (and yes I think we established at the end of the season that it was saw fly or something else just as irritating) but I wanted Carol to tell me.

and i want to see the layout of the patch, not just the big old thumbs in profile.

Was very impressed with Balcony Babe though.

I even had to stay up til midnight as I chose Carol over Corrie part 2.

Mr Robin is quite cute, but would rather see some more ground shots rather than the weans.

Verdict still being considered.

;D

We enjoyed it more too, though wish they could still give a little more practical information. We liked the Swedish girl too, her level of enthusiasm seemed very genuine. Whereas Carol's can often sound a bit forced (perhaps I am being a bit unfair to her, because we do like her a lot).

Liked the music accompanying it and there was only one appearance for the cat and the dog and only a couple of the robin which really deserves the BAFTA, as it looked so cute watching Carol sowing her carrot seeds. My OH definitely enjoyed it more, he thought the cleavage and bronzed leg shots were very tasty!  :D We both had a laugh at the end when Carol and her OH were tasting some of her root veggies, it sounded as though they were having an orgy in the garden, with all the sighs and the oohs and aahs!  ;D On the whole enjoyed it, though it still has it's shortcomings, but we are still looking forward to it next week.  busy_lizzie

our carrots always come out clean, maybe not as clean as hers but, we grow them in a raised bed in compost  ;)

What were Carol and her hubbie eating. Was it boiled parsnips and beetroot. I'm glad my Tony didn't try to woo me with the like. On the whole I thought the programme was better than last week. I too like the girl on the balcony cos of her enthusiasm. I get like that over my muck heap. I noticed my Tony sitting up a bit when she came on. (wonder why). Btw I cover my carrots with fleece and not one carrot fly got in. It does work.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

That's good to hear, i was planning on using fleece to cover ours in the hope of not getting ruined by carrot flies.  BTW, what happens to the carrots if they are attacked? Just so I know what to look out for! x

I thought it was better too, but still 2 irritations- camera shots which don't show anything useful, and the way it jumps around so much. Why couldn't they follow the carrots through from start to finish, for example?
