Someone mentioned a simple re-sizing program?

I just want to be able to chose my pixels for mailing photos from my folders.

My FinePix Viewer is on the blink!!

Hi Tim, the one I use that was reccomended on here is pix resizer, it can be downloaded from
http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm

Personally when I use it, I have made a new folder in my docs called "resized" and the images get dropped straight into there when done and it makes it all a lot easier...IMO!

Tim have a try at

http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

just right click an image file tick one box ok and the jobs done.

look at the advance options and you can duplicate and resize or just resize.

You can even resize multiple images. eg 20 images two clicks 10 seconds job done

Just tried it seems very effective - thanks for the tip.

Tried that, Glow. All I seem to get is the installer package. Clicking on that tells me it's installing but when I go to open it by clicking on the icon, it starts installing again. I've tried it in other locations for easy access but I still seem to only have the install icon here. Is there another site I can pick it up from.
I use Pix resizer, ok but a bit fiddly.

Hi kk
its alreday installed - its not a program in the traditional sense
just right click on an image file and does the text "resize pictures" appear? If so left click on it

kenkew

Good heavens...Thicko or what! I loaded that thing 4 times...I was looking for an exe prog.....Yes, It does work without needing to fire-up a prog...now that's what I call clever...Oh, for many more 'progs' like that.
Cheers.

PS...It seems to drop the size to around 32kb's which is fine for exporting.

tim

 Pixresizer certainly works for me.

But Glowy - thicko isn't in it - you're onto a loser here. Just can't see the prcedure despite trying.

Eh! Tim....I thought I was getting all wrong. It's a programme but not as we know it. If you've gone through the installation, that's it...you have it!
After install, don't go looking for the prog to open it, it sits there waiting for you to resize...just right click on one of your pics...and you'll see an option to resize in the drop down menu. Select your option and left click. A copy of the pic is deposited in the same folder. Best thing is to create a second folder in that one and call it something like 'thumbnails' and move the new pic in there. Then if you want to download that pic, use the newly reduced one.
Thank Glow, not me.

tim

But......but.....that's the problem - I don't get a resize option. Only a dozen other things.

In Programs, I get 'Powertoys for XP - Read me'.

In Documents I get 'XP Resizer - set up launcher'.

glow777

if you have the read me it is installed OK

R U actually clicking on a file icon (or text in list/detail view) or the actual picture in a viewing program. You need to right click on the file(s) not the picture - if that makes sense

this should then generate a list similar to below.

I've been trying for an hour now, Ian. Like I said.........!!

Yes, I was clicking on a picture in Canon Zoom Browser.

Can't figure the 'icon' or 'file' bit?? Awful to be this stupid in public but it might help someone else?

Tried posting a screen pic but it's still overloaded!

glow777

its the doing it from Cannon Zoom Browser bit that is wrong

as an example

go to start, click on my documents, click on my pictures - what you should see there are sample image icons (and maybe some you have added) some maybe within folders if so go into these folders by dbl clicking

these are (graphical representations) of files in there unopened (stored) state

try right clicking on one of these and check the menu.

-------------------------------------------

When you are in Zoom you are actually working within the constraints of that program not the windows environment which is why its not working.

hth - time to defrost the car and go to work!
