My 13 foot cold frame.  :D

Took me one whole day, involved 2 doors, some old window frames, wood and screws.

I'm delighted, just one small piece of perspex needing cut for the missing middle bit and it will be perfect. I think I may even run an 6 inch shelf along the back half way up for even more stuff.

That's a great piece of work sawfish. I was reading a '60s gardening book which claimed that frames were used extensively by US gardeners in the way that polytunnels are by UK growers. The Victorian Garden DVD certainly showed a lot of area under glass - complete with hotbeds. Very envious, what are you going to grow in there?

Now that's what I call a true Plotterian.

I'm considering extending it another one or two door lengths accross which would give me a 26 foot coldframe (that must be a record). The beauty of coldframes is the simplicity of building them, its not like a greenhouse where you have to do things properly its just a simple shape built with wood, windows and hinges .

I'm going to use it to grow veg in trays from seed initially as my greenhouse is still in pieces and although I put a clear roof on my hut I need most of that space for other stuff. After that its going to have squash in it, possibly Marina Di Chioggia or Crown Prince.

Does anyone else have any pictures or stories about stuff they've built recently?

Not recently but built two large "coffin" frames to fit some windows I was given. Dropped one in a hail storm last year and tried to cut my hand off!
