Hi all, just to get on the bandwagon - can anyone ID this please - I was expecting a penstemon, but I dont think it is!! A phlox?
Spect I am barking up the wrong tree, so please put me straight if you can!
Thanks
Sally
PS - it is nestling amongst a lupin and a hemerocallis!!

Could we please have a close-up of the flower and the leaf, and an indication of its height?

traceym

Could be phlox stolonifera,creeping phlox.

Hugh_Jones

Looks a bit more than 4 - 6 inches in height, though traceym. Be easier if we knew just how tall it is.

At the moment it is about 12 inches high.
Thanks for all the suggestions

Hi Sally
I have dwarf penstemons about 12ins, but the flowers in your photo don't look tubular. Looks more like a phlox flower to me too. I believe there is a wild form which has singular flowers instead of the usual large cluster.  :-\

Could be wrong but it looks like tradescantia andersoniana 'Isis' to me trinity flower or spiderwort).  Hardy border plant.  Am pretty sure tho, hope this helps  :D

I was thinking tradescantia too, but the leaves on the close up don't look right.

It is one of the species, Diane, but there are a lot of wild ones out there in the USA (and 1 in Siberia).
