Do you know ? ....That really makes sense  !    Luv Rohaise    :)

tim

Those chops must of cost you an arm & leg.....

tim

And money!!

But at one each, they are a great meal. All from our very local butcher.

Must add that we had him do us a 3lb bacon joint last week. Local Old Spot - free range. And it was HUGELY better than Tesco's Finest Honey Smoked Pork Loin - & yes, cheaper!!

I'm thinking of starting to use the butcher for a better quality meat. That was the whole idea when we got the allotment as I would save money on veg to buy quality meat but it hasn't happened yet. Popped to the farmers market on Sunday had a shock how much they wanted for a chicken.

tim

But was it a happy chicken?

Worth a bit more - for its sake?

And what about the taste - & the stock?

Yes - 50% more, but.........

Mrs Ava

Now those are what I call chops!  I would have fed all of us on those two.  The children have chops tomorrow for tea.  Not crazy about chops - can't stand fat on meat - I'm on hogs pudding!  :P

Jill

Gorgeous looking chops.  Do you bake rather than grill then, Tim (or have I missed the point)?

But Emma - all the fat's gone sweet & crispy??

And Jill - yes - having an AGA - & less smell in our live-in kitchen!

Mrs Ava

Lish, it is like haggis, but a Devon version.  A sausage full of groats an in a natural casing.  Takes me back to summer holidays with Grandma in Bideford.  ;D

Tim, nope, the only fat I can stand is on streaky bacon when it is as crispy as a crispy thing.

I tried tesco's finest pork once. Not good. Suspect due to the water and sugar added "for extra tenderness"  -always check the small print before buying for the first time.  >:(

Pleased to say that after much pestering our butcher, who's had free range bacon for some time, has now added free range pork  - not old spot but a step in the right direction :)

Wish we had a local butcher, ours closed down when the supermarkets moved in. We now have to drive a good few miles to a farm shop if we want the good stuff. :'( :'(
Tim, they look absolutely devine! :)
We don't inherit the earth, we only borrow it from our children.

now I'm wondering about groats... :-[

tim

Mrs Ava

Sorry.... ;D

Groats are the hulled and crushed grains of various cereals, such as oats, wheat, barley or buckwheat.
