Here is an old photo taken in the late 60s of my Dad sitting on the planter with a couple of my Uncles planting cabbage plants out. The field they are in was a 30 acre field which was all set out with cabbage. Thought the other day that now days you can drive for miles without seeing fields set out with vegetables yet back then almost all the fields around Tamworth and the surrounding areas were veg fields.

Down our way they're all covered in fleece early on, that's why we don't see the veg growing!!!
If I ever get it all right - then that's the time to quit.

What a great photo, Richard!  Just shows that you don't have to mollycoddle them?

And reminds me to get my first WSB out today.

Tim you hit the nail on the head there about mollycoddling them, they were planted out and if there was no rain,  there was no rain and they were left to fight for survival which I can assure you they did. Granddad used to like to see the plants take up to about 3 weeks to pick up then he knew they would be ok.
By the way Tim your plants look well
