Twospot Ladybird

Not been active on here for over a year now but missed everyone so had to come back!  ;D

Hello to everyone I know from the past:

Heldi, Plocket, Greenwizard, Lord Steve, Lorna (was known as lady gardener on the beeb forum), Obelixx, ACE, Derekthefox, Palustris, EJ - Emma Jane, Georgie, I know I've forgotten lots of other people but I'm sure I will remember you if we chat in the future. If you remember me and I've not mentioned you (lots of you, I know  :-[ and hello anyway) please don't hesitate to reply to this thread.

Lots of new faces too so hello to everyone that has registered in the past year that I haven't met yet.

Why did I disappear for a while?

It was quiet on here wintertime end of 2005 and I was doing other things but looking in occasionally anxiously waiting for spring but spring never arrived. Without spring, I just couldn't get motivated. The weeding was neglected (strangely there wasn't many weeds anyway) had to force myself to mow the lawn, didn't plant any seeds, baskets still had winter stuff in them and didn't need anything done to them. Then suddenly, it was summer but because of the lack of spring, I still found it difficult to get back into the swing of things.

Mid to late summer, I finally felt that the year was more normal, I was back to working hard in the garden and then I slipped and fell in my local Supermarket. I landed heavily on my right knee and injured it. I could barely walk for a couple of weeks, I had to take my daughter to nursery by bus for weeks (daughter's nursery is about a mile walk up hill from my house) and worst of all, I couldn't do the garden :'(.

Seven months on I still can't kneel to do the weeding (I do this by hand) so I bought myself a kneeler stool and use it upside down (I sit on the side you kneel on) so that I'm close enough to the ground to do my weeding. That does'nt answer why I stopped visiting here though but this is the best way that I can put it:

No motivation to do the garden = no motivation to talk about the garden.

Maybe if I'd tried talking to all my friends on here about it, it would have been a help and I would have still been a regular. I'm back now though and I'm glad to be back  ;D

I'm looking forwards to catching up with everyone and making more friends  :)

Palustris

Welcome back. We missed you.
Gardening is the great leveller.

Twospot Ladybird

Thankyou for your kind words Cookie and thanks for the welcome Palustris.

I'm seeing more names that I recognise so I think I'll start adding them here as I come across them that's assuming that they are the same people that I knew before  ;D

Hello also to:

Honeybee, Marianne, MagpieDi and Telboy.

Twospot Ladybird

Hello Carol, Rosebud and Alishka.

Sorry Rosebud, didn't mean to forget you  :-[. Although your name is one of the first I saw yesterday and one I remember from being here before, I had an early senior moment (I'm not even 40 yet) when I started this thread today  :-[.

Alishka, don't think we spoke much back then but I definately remember you  :) (your name that is). If I remember correctly, you're one of the more knowledgable members but please correct me if I'm wrong  ;D

Hello also to Grandma, nippie, theothermarg and blue bird.

Mrs Ava

Hiya 2spot, and welcome back.  I don't know if it is flattering that you remember me or no.....just shows what a chatterbox I am!  ;D   Glad you have stopped by again - you know you can always off load on a4all!  ;D ;D ;D

emmy1978

Hello, nice to meet you and welcome back. Sorry to hear you've had a rotten time, but spring has definately sprung so hope this year is a better one for you. x
Don't throw paper away. There is no away.

Amazin

Sorry to hear about your knee 2spot - it can be a real pain (literally) when bits break down, but somehow, we adapt.

Still, as the great Greek philosopher and cynic once said:

"Call me Dodgyknees!"

;D
Lesson for life:
1. Breathe in     2. Breathe out     3. Repeat

ellkebe

Sounds like a rotten year  :( - hope this one makes up for it, and the knee's on the mend soon.

norfolklass

hello Twospot
we haven't met before, I only joined A4A a few months ago, but welcome back!
like everyone else, I'm very sorry to hear that you've been a bit down and felt unable to do garden things :(
I hope your knee gets better quickly and that you carry on gardening now that the sun is out and things are a bit more cheerful :)
don't forget, a very important but often neglected bit of gardening is just sitting still and enjoying ;D

sutton girl
