The water they deliver to our taps in Guildford is pretty much sewage with a bit of Chlorine thrown in. I measured our Nitrate levels yesterday - just above 75mg/litre. The EU max for drinking water is 50.

So, Thames water, fix your pipes and stop delivering me Sewage that tastes of Chlorine & I'll have a wee think about using less of your product.

Just a quick comment...............I assume that different water authorities work to a similar ruling. When I took over my plot 5 years ago I queried the forthcoming water shortage and was told althought we  couldn't use hose pipes, the water in the troughs would not be disconnected on allotments as" water cannot be rationed for the growing of food crops".

Perhaps a point to check if Thames Water really are planning on this action

If the nitrate levels are over the EU limit, get the local press onto it and embarass them. Don't they know it can cause anemia and blue baby syndrome, or don't they care?
