I have realised, now they are maturing, that I REALLY overestimated the spacing between my earlies  ;D

Will carrots grow between? Or anything better?

Thanks

Tricky one as you will need to earth up, but once you've done that a Quick crop like Radish, or transplanted lettuce will be up and out before the spuds shade them too much!

In all the gardening books during the war they used to say you could grow sprouts and other brassicas between potatoes as they grew up high enough but they generally got very drawn up and weak.

I planted parsnips, fennel, leeks and allsorts next to my earlies, BIG MISTAKE!
The earlies have grown so big that everything else has now been shaded out and covered completely!

Still in the plot   36 Leeks, 1x rows parsnips, 2x  rows chard, psb, broccoli, 5 rows garlic, 1 row swede, lots of onions - started in rows, but the birds had them and now they are random!!

I've just sown the first thing ever on my allotment - some spuds.

They're obviously 'lates' and I didn't even think about growing something in between them.

I might have a go at growing something fast germinating like radishes.
