Found a couple of 'fallers' under the tree - and with severe gales forecast for tomorrow - thought I would pick just the 'loosest' ones and leave those that felt as if they might hang on through the storm.

There's 2¼lbs in the box - there were a few more. Bet you can't guess what happened to them!  :P :P :P

ooo Grandma, they look great.  Wonder if they'd crop this far north ?

Wow Grandma - what fab looking fruit - lovely colour, soooo ripe looking....I'm so envious.......do hope you've enjoyed them :P

They look great!!-next door lost all theirs(shame cos it`s growing next to the fence).

I`m thinking of planting one against a West Facing wall-ie no morning sun but gets pretty warm from around noon until sundown. Any views on that as a location? and any tips on variety?. I was thinking about Moorpark as that`s the one next door and it sets fruit well(even if the rain and hail knocked them off this year)

nice i am tempted to grow :-)

Thanks all for your nice comments.

Home-grown apricots are SO much sweeter (and far juicier) than shop-bought ones but they're very unreliable, even down here on the south coast. My little tree is about 18 years old and this is only the third time I've had a really big crop. Trouble is, it blooms very early - sometimes in February!!! - and often gets frosted. This year's success was probably due to last year's exceptionally mild winter.

Mine is Moorpark and is growing in the open but would probably fare better against a wall - west-facing would be ideal, Cleo.

Good luck to anyone tempted to have a go - those good years are well worth waiting for!  :) :) :)
