Hi Folks,  I just visited and signed the contract for my new allotment.  It has been completely cleared, it looks as though it has had the top few inches completely scraped off by a JCB by the look of things.  Previously it had been covered in brambles so I guess there will be a few roots left to excavate.
Looking forward to some top drawer information and chats with you all.
Cant wait to get started on the digging. Any ideas on what I could be planting this side of Xmas?
Ben

Hi there. many of us have started off the same way. Once you get the blackberry roots out you will find that ground is quite workable. We took a plot on last Oct and the top half that was overgrown with blackberries has produced the best stuff. We couldn't believe it. We expected the worst and got the best. Don't know wether it was the digging out of the roots that didi it or what. let us know how you get on and don't forget the pics. BTW where abouts are you

Hi and welcome Ben ...  :D

Do hope they did not scape off all the top soil ... you may need to get in a load of manure to put back a bit that they swiped !!

... at least you don't have couch !!!!!  ;)

Hi Ben and congrats on your new Lottie and Welcome to A4A  :)
How lucky are you to get your plot cleared?
I have been working for over 50 hours digging and clearing and still after nearly two weeks I'm not quite done. Nearly there though.

Welcome.
Dead envious to learn you came to a clear plot - I had weeds growing through old rubber-backed carpets and disintegrating plasic sheet on mine. You'll be doing your autumn sowing in no time!

Congratulations on getting a plot...

Welcome Ben, don't envy you digging out them roots, but it will all come right in the end, and as Flowerlady said get some manure dug in, as the top soil has most of the goodness or likes in it.  ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.
