how to store dahlias

Grown some dahlias from tubers for the first time this year. They are in pots and I believe coming to the end of flowering soon. How do we keep them over winter. We are in the south east but can get frosts.

Not sure if we can put the pots which are a reasonable size somewhere dry, like the polytunnel or greenhouse, or whether they should be taken from the pots.  :-\

This is a good way to store them providing they are kept frost free.

The top growers purposely grow them this way(in pots) for cutting material next year, the method is referred to as 'pot tubers' as opposed to the 'field tubers' which are lifted from the beds.

Gradually let them die back and leave to dry off then store them in a frost free place.

In spring water them to start up new growth for cuttings or if you like split them and re-pot.
