Wasps! Again

Does anyone know of a paint which I can use on our wooden swing seat which will deter the wasps from using it as a source of nesting material. We cannot sit on the swing at present for wasps scraping away. It has been painted in the past with a straight wood preservative type paint.

How about a couple of coats of varnish? Never tried it but it might do the trick.
