Recipe Book

would it be a nice idea for someone to compile a new recipe book - all the recipes coming from ourselves, our favourites and someone compiling it and offering it for a nomonal fee - all proceeds to Dan of course

it could take the form of a month by month layout using crops available at the time, like a calender

would make a nice xmas present as a pdf file maybe - just a thought  :)

Should the source of the Recipe be acknowledged?

And is that still legal?

all recipes would have to be as 'honest' as possible and preferably old so as to avoid copyright problems so no recipes that are obviously coming from any of the tv chefs for example could be included

it would also be nice if the recipes didn't already appear in the archives but not essential

and every contributor would get a credit, whether it be for the recipe or a photo  :)

have to wait and see if we get enough interest though

the majority of the meals i cook come from inside my own head anyway- i very rarely follow recipies- i always change them, even just a little bit.
i believe i (or someone) could publish those without problems?
im looking forward to this recipie book now!

Great idea. Here's a couple more suggestions... People can post their favourite recipes - and then we can compile a shortlist and members can vote. I would suggest they should have at least something that can be grown on a veggie patch. Being gardening related, how about dividing the book into seasons, rather than soups, starters, mains etc., and the top, say, 12 recipes from each season could go in...

I'd love to see recipes with a story behind them - handed down from great grandmother who was a courgette farmer in John O' Groats, a secret recipe acquired by illicit yet romantic means from an Italian waiter whilst on holiday in Rome, and so on.

I also think a book would be better than a .pdf, but don't know how much a short run of books costs.

Ollie I love the idea of recipes having a story to them, a history. A printed book would cost a lot of money but maybe in the future a kindly sponsor will take up the idea - as a pdf people can always print out their own

still waiting to hear from Dan to get the ok but I reckon it will be worth a start - I'll post a few ideas later

i do think it might be worth writing to a few companies to ask for sponsorship. will halp in anyway i can, this sounds like it's gonna be fun!

meanwhile is it ok for me to push ahead with this, if so, here's the plan

I don't mind compiling this and I'll create something in 'Pages' on my Mac and make it as beautiful as possible - I will cram in as many recipes as I get sent - before anyone pays for it I could post a sample page to give an idea of what it is like - it is likely that it will be a pdf, anything else such as a Book, CD or a DVD will cost too much in time and money but this could be a future plan if Dan's up for it

it will be a month by month plan with as many recipes as possible centering around crops that should be available at that time of year

so as to make cut and paste easy can you send me recipes and photos to my personal email - joylucas@mac.com

send me your recipes as soon as possible - please make them as authentic and original to yourself and to take up Ollie's idea include a story or history if there is one

photos would be lovely to - again pertaining to a particular month, of the crops, of your allotment, of the cooked recipe, of the dog eating it or whatever  ;D

all recipes and photos get a credit so please indicate whether you want your credit to be your forum name or your real name

please post any questions etc
