cor, I wouldn't mind a few of them  ;D

heehee shades......lovely cauli......or strangest romanesco I have ever seen.

Still I bet it tastes good  ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Emagggie

I'd even be happy if my caulis looked like that  ;D
Smile, it confuses people.

silverbirch

Maybe it's just feeling a bit "off colour"?  Still a lovely cauli though.  I bet there's a cheese sauce heading in it's direction any minute now.

powerspade

What a beautiful cauli. A old chap on our allotments told me that if you can grow caulis then you are regarded a good gardener as they can be very diificult to grow

Lotti

Perhaps its an albino romanesco! ;)

saddad

That's me put inmy place then Powerspade... never managed a decent drop of Cauli!

Look what I found today in the same bed!

I'm a bit confused now, never grown Romanesco before, so how did I get Cauli in the same packet?

thanks for your earlier replies/ shades x

The mysteries of seed packaging!  ??? Both look good enough to eat, great work!
This year it's squash.

I thought i was growing cabbage and they turned out to be caulis :)

It happens to us all :)

I have a perfect crispy type round lettuce growing in one of my raised beds. It has survived 3 frosts. I grew mixed carrots there. I don't buy lettuce seeds because I hate the stuff. I'm hoping one of my daughters will eat it. The red cucumber seed turned out to be white Crystal Apple, and two lots of tomato seeds did not resemble the picture on the packet in shape or colour. The tomatoes and cucumber seed came from a specialist seed company, who have sent me a £5 gift voucher to spend with them next year. However as 3 out of 4 packets had the wrong seed in, I'm not certain I wish to buy from them again.

I had the opposite - bought some plug plants of all year round caulis beginning of August. They appear to be cabbages, possibly holland late winter. They have a good cabbage head not cauli.

Some years ago one of my friends visited a seed packaging operation. What he saw was bays of seeds spilling over between varieties. I've had mixed packs and even packs that definitely didn't 'do what it said on the tin'. Last year I found myself growing two lots of cabages instead of one lot of cabbage and one of cauli. Another friend found a few hispi type growing amongst his stonehead.

This is all the more reason to boycott all the major seed firms. They've forgotten what quality control is and simply exist by ripping the punter off. The industry is corrupt to the core.

Are you going to tell us the seed company Wild Thing or is it a secret.  ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.
