Is there anyone who lives in or around Peterhead and can give me some advice about growing veg up there. A friend's daughter lives up there and asked me  about growing veg eg tomatoes, courgettes etc. Is there a shorter growing season? Can you grow toms outside or are they better in a green house?
We are in South Essex so the growing season is probably quite different ie last frosts etc.
Anyway I didn't have any advice to give, but said that I said that I was sure that I could find out [I have great faith in you all]............so its over to you folks!

Have a read of this http://tinyurl.com/y57avq  and see what you think, I know a few people work to it even someone in Canada.

I've heard that being by the sea makes an area less prone to ground frost but not sure if that's relevant quite so far North.

I'm from Aberdeen so I think Peterhead would be pretty similar, if you want tomato's you better get a greenhouse. Unlike Glasgow you get a lot of sun but icy cold winds.

The frosts definitely disappear faster up there with the salty sea air though.

Thanks for the advice - will pass the info on.
