Printer's

I have just found a problem with one of my printers, has anyone else had this happen?

Yesterday, I was preparing a very special birthday card for a ladies 100th birthday. It is quite easily done with Open Office. I then wanted to print it (I have three printers, a Brother DCP135C, a Canon Pixma IP1600 and a Hewlett Packard Mono Laser), the HP was out as I needed colour. I decided to use the Brother as the Canon was signalling "low ink level". I put an A4 sheet of paper into the printer and sent the file to print.

The result print was as required, BUT, on the bottom right hand corner it printed the date and time in bold type. I went through everything but couldn't find anyway to stop this happening.

I then sent it to the Canon, which printed it perfectly.

If it was the time and date the photo was taken, maybe there's a setting in the printer driver which does this.

Well, it won't happen anymore, I've given the printer to my step-daughter.

I've now ordered an HP Photosmart, HP have supplied a whole database of their printers called HPLIP (HP Linux Imaging and Printing), which work fine with all Linux distributions).

I can't understand any manufacturer not wanting to maximise their sales potential, the worst is Canon (no co-operation at all).
