After transplanting my okra into large pots all seemed to be going well, noticed some new leaves coming very slowly but at least they haven't died on me... yet!! Today I noticed one leaf has been almost completely eaten!! Have inspected the plant and under the leaves are lots of clear jelly like balls, are these eggs off something?? Cant see anything else though, what are they?? and what should I do??

They sound like slug eggs ML, if you pick them out and put them in the sunlight it will dry them out and kill them, or stick them on the bird table.

You could put bran round the stem and under any leaves touching the compost, slugs love bran and will hopefully gorge and pop before they wander onto your Okra.

Maybe worth a try?
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

2DEGUS

Hi there i'm new to this but have been browsing the okra forum coz mine are struggling (SURPRISE SURPRISE !! ) No trouble germinating but then got a bit weedy when 30cm high. Internet search told me my insect "eggs" were in fact mucinaginous globules so I've stopped rubbing them off! :)
I've got mine 2 to a huge pot sharing with 2 cucs in the conservatory. Going to try to keep temp up as I read somewhere they are Tropical! Just checked and got 1 bud on 3 plants plus a rash of Whitefly >:(.      Do they get constant weather and no bugs in Texas?

Eristic

I've grown most of mine in the polytunnel and restricted them to 2 litre pots. One plant is now producing pod no.6 with most of the others at 4-5 pods. Outside the plants are not growing very well but some have set a couple of smallish pods.

The critter eating all my pods is me.
