It's really a spring flower, but I get about six weeks of flowers through having a few plants dotted around. Another plant that I realized might suit looking around today is aquilegia - although they grow in shade, I have several self-seeds in a dry, south-facing bed which have been there for at least a decade. Again, they have a hefty taproot to store energy.

I have Hosta's in pots...large pots....but I think they may need dividing this time.

When is the best time to do this?

What about feeding them?....they look healthy enough and Ive manged to keep the slugs away....do they need anything?

Split them when not in leaf - early spring is a good time.
You can feed with any all-purpose fertlizer, although they don't usually need much unless very pot-bound.

Thankyou for that Rosa_Mundi
