This year I sowed courgettes (Defender and All green bush) and squash (patty pan and Crown Prince). Then I had a disaster and lost most of them to frost. This is one of the survivors but it doesn't look like any of the other plants I have, I think it's possibly a patty pan, but not sure. Anyone know?

the top picture looks like the squash crown prince as the courgettes you mention are cylindrical and all patty pans (as far as I know) have scalloped edges and usually white or yellow  :-\

Crown Prince is a vine..this is a bush, camera angle is not the best but I think it is a pattypan, They start off green and chubby and flatten and change colour as they mature. Best time to eat them is at 2-3 inches only . I would expect this one to be white or very pale green when mature.

Pattypans  varieties come green, white, yellow, orange ,striped, and bicolour, some are scalloped and some are not, and they are all bush plants.

Enjoy.. they are great stuffed.

Thanks Jeannine,

I thought you would know what it was. I thought I'd killed all the patty pans off, looking forward to seeing what they taste like.
