Mushy Pea

Hi Folks,

Sorry to pick your brains again, but I was given some potatoes to put in just after I had the allotment. Some were bad so I burned them but the others seemed ok and I planted them. However now I've come to dig them up they nearly all have white spots on them that can be wiped off with a glove. I thought at first it was just a bit fungusy due to all the wet but could this be blight?  :'(

If so have I damaged the soil for future crops?

I've put them in a bag to burn as they don't look nice.

Many thanks.

MP

The ones I bought are fine

I get it on some tubers, probably just excess moisture, it has been wet! Let them dry out well and that gives them time if they are going to go off. Blight/Soft Rot are so offensive to the nose you'd soon know!  :-\

Had the same thing last year and then again this year. It didn't affect storage last year and the potatoes were fine to eat as they are this year. I assumed it was due to the wet summers.
