i have been concidering getting them from marshalls

That's where I normally buy most of my onions. Better than so-called "cheap bargains" from garden centres & supermarkets where loads of them are unusable.

Thanks chaps. I hadn't thought of them  :)

I buy mine locally loose from the sack. These days I don't need many so I pick only good ones. I also throw in one or two 'odd' named ones from other sacks.

Try looking on Dobies web site Red Pearl  F1 200g £1.35

Some sites haven't yet got next Spring's sets listed yet.

There are a huge number of respectable sites: including Tuckers, Marshalls, Dobies, the OrganicCatalog etc, but there isn't actually much variety when it comes to types of onion sets for Autumn planting: Radar (normal) Senshyu (yellow) and Electric (red) are the most common, but there are whites like Silver Moon as well.

This year I'm just doing whites and shallots. because I find the autumn sown onions aren't that much earlier than the spring sown ones and I need the space in the spring

PS I couldn't find Red Pearl sets on Dobies just seeds.

Like Kenkew I shall select the best bulbs from the sack at my local nursery, CLOCKHOUSE NURSERY, don't mention this to Georgie  :-X she gets goose bumps when you mention CLOCKHOUSE NURSERY.  ;D ;D ;D

corny ..do tell more i suspect a flirtatious bit of juicy gossip!!

and i too buy from a very good local petfood shop lets you examine all you buy,i try to avoid the catalogues as i get seed crazy and spend a fortune!!
If it ain't broke don't fix it !!

Amazin

I went looking for Clockhouse once. It wasn't where it should've been.

I feel inspired to try again though. What are their prices like Corny?

I usually buy from Marshalls, but ordered from the Organic catalogue, just for a change to see what they're like. I've been happy with Marshalls, though, used their sets fora few years now and only failure was last year (well, that was a duff year in all respects, wasn';t it?)
