Welcome to A4A!!

I've just planted some onion sets and garlic. Also soon can plant broad beans.
Also radishes, lettuce, chard etc.

I'm sure someone will come along with a much longer list - I'm a novice too!

Good luck with it anyway and hope you enjoy your lottie.

on Sunday i sowed to plant out under cloches:

  • lettuce: baby gem
  • carrots: autumn king 2

  • beetroot (you never know might get a few baby ones for Christmas)
  • Chinese leaves

  • radishes
  • spinach

  • pak choi
  • kale

next month i will sow some broadbeans to overwinter for a early crop next year no need to cover with cloche, but wind protection is good in exposed areas.

and in November i will sow my garlic, again no need to cover. although you may want to net against the birds pulling they cloves out before the get a chance to root.

others will fill you in on lots more i'm sure, and welcome to the site.

Where in the country are you, it does make a difference, down here in sunny Kent you can get away with a lot more than you can in Northumberland, if you see what I mean.

i am trying a late sowing of spinach as a last chance, every sowing this year bolted, in the end i used spinach beet with great success and we are still harvesting from about nine plants. will cover them with a cloche as I'm not sure if they are frost hardy.

and if this spinach bolts/ dies then i will stick to spinach beet from now on as i seem to be successful with that and they taste the same. oh i plan to cover the spinach if they actually grow :-\ :D.
