bought fake items

hi all just after abit of advice my girlfring bought some ghd hair straitners from a website which she thought was english as it had an english addresse when they came yesterday i tried to regester them with ghd and they told me they where fake and when i look they have been shipped to here from china she payed by paypal with here credit card  but they wont do anything as they on procced with claims from ebay now im getting emails from someone in china saying they are original item and he a student with little money and just doin a little businesse now email starting to get funny saying please let me eat and study as im a student been on to trading standards and they told me send a letter to company ( which is a farm in heartforshre ) and also im goin to cancel her card just to be safe aslo anymore advice would be grateful thanks

Are you not covered by your credit card insurance?
You have still paid for something via credit card but used paypal as a gateway instead of a machine.
I thought paypal covered you even if buying stuff outside of ebay.

Try googling the long distance selling regulations and see if you're covered by anything in that (they can be found via the trading standards website)
