Here is a pic of our blueberry that we bought last year. It was a good one cost 8quid and did fruit quite well. I don't really know how or when to prune it. The pic isn't very clear but as you will see I have a couple of long shoots coming from the middle of the bush. I would also like to know if anyone has managed to propagate  any cuttings
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

hiya, shirley, that just looks like ours, I just topped them to keep them where I want them, about 2 or 3 inches off the long branches..never tried cuttings though  :)

Thanks for the link Neill. According to that they grow like canes. I'm going to try to take a side shoot from the bottom with a bit of root on (like you do with raspberrys) Nothing to lose eh!

I'm going to try and grow them like the rasberries and tie them to wire between posts rather than leave them as bushes.

Nilly, while that book might refer to the stems as canes, they aren't like raspberries.  The stems don't need supporting or tieing in.  It's a bush with strong stems, more like a blackcurrant than raspberry.

Thanks Ceres, I'm doing it that way so that it's easier for me and does not take up as much room. I'm thinking of doing the blackcurrents the same.
I just like to be different really ;D
